Who could apply

  • Assistant surgeon: holders of an MBBS or equivalent degree.
  • Assistant dental surgeon: holders of a BDS or equivalent degree.
  • Final-year candidates: those who had sat their final exams could apply, provided the written exam was complete by 25 October.
  • Foreign degrees: a BMDC equivalence certificate is required at the viva.

How the exam works

There is no three-stage preliminary, written and viva sequence as in a general BCS. Selection rests on a 200-mark multiple-choice (MCQ) exam and a 100-mark competency-based viva — 300 marks in all — so preparation centres on subject-wise medical MCQs.

When is the next general BCS circular?

Prothom Alo reported on 24 September that the PSC calendar plans the next general BCS circular for November 2026, alongside or after the 50th BCS final results. The special exam has taken the number 51, so the next general BCS will be the 52nd — that is the circular non-medical candidates are preparing for.
